Acrocathosaurus "high-spine lizard"

Description

While not as big as T. rex, Acrocanthosaurus was the largest predator of its time, probably partially thanks to its 68 menacing teeth, which were thin and serrated, like a steak knife. Its arms look small, but Acrocanthosaurus probably used them to hold onto prey during an attack.

  • Early Cretaceous, 115-105 million years ago
  • Southwest United States
  • Carnivorous
  • 13 feet tall, 30-40 feet long
