Deinonsuchus "terrible crocodile"

Description

These animals are not dinosaurs but roamed in prehistoric times. Deinosuchus was likely able to hunt with the biggest and baddest despite being smaller than many of the dinosaurs. The evolutionary track for crocodilians has not changed drastically over the years, so Deinosuchus is remarkably similar to its modern-day counterparts.

  • Late Cretaceous, 70-60 million years ago
  • North America
  • Carnivorous
  • 30-50 feet long, 10,000-20,000 lbs
