Description

Formerly known as Brontosaurus, the Apatosaurus was discovered in the late 1800s, but when it was mounted for display, a skull from a different dinosaur was used, causing confusion. The error was finally corrected in the 1970s. To date, there is only one non-crushed Apatosaurus skull in existence.
